France has lost the lead in the Junior World Trophy at the Six Days in Portugal. Thibault Giraudon had to retire with a technical problem on his Fantic; Italy took over the top spot. Josep García won the daily individual classification again and cut his overall deficit to Andrea Verona to around twelve seconds.
This changes the picture from the update of 15 October: France’s lead among the juniors is gone, while the duel between García and Verona is getting closer.
Just one lap and three special tests
The organisers shortened the loop between Grândola and Santiago do Cacém for all classes from two laps to one. Three special tests remained in the programme. According to the FIM, additional time on the liaison sections was meant to improve visibility. Unlike on the third riding day, this time a change to the daily programme was the reason for the reduced number of tests.

Italy takes over among the juniors
Giraudon’s problems appeared before the first special test. He was unable to fix them. Italy now leads the Junior World Trophy by around 3:36 minutes ahead of the USA; Spain moves up to third place.
In the World Trophy, Italy remains ahead of France and Sweden. The lead over France is around 3:39 minutes. The USA lost time through a technical incident for Steward Baylor and are now fourth, only about 17 seconds ahead of Spain. In the women’s standings, the USA still lead ahead of Australia and France.
García wins, Verona stays ahead
García won the first two tests, Verona the last. Baboons reports a daily advantage of 3.14 seconds for the Spaniard. After previously trailing by 15.30 seconds, his overall deficit is now around twelve seconds. Zachary Pichon was third on the day.

ADAC Nordbaden improves to 24th place
Team Germany Nordbayern with Luca Wiesinger, Sven Marker and Petr Krivanek holds 14th place. ADAC Nordbaden with Martin Werz, Paul Topor and Marvin Mohler improves from 29th to 24th. Germany–DMV is listed in 75th place after Matthias Reichmann’s earlier retirement. Marco Pfeifer’s scoring time for day four is 22:25.60 minutes.
The top of the club classification also saw a change: after Pietro Scardina’s retirement at Team Italy, Team Rabaconda leads ahead of Missouri Mudders and GTBN.
The new Grândola–Alcácer do Sal loop is scheduled for Friday, 16 October. Results of this fifth riding day are not yet included in this update.
