MACBOR to enter Dakar 2027 as a motorcycle team with Gerard Farrés

MACBOR has announced its first entry as a team in the motorcycle category for the Dakar 2027. The project’s rider is Gerard Farrés. The Spanish brand published the news on 15 October. It had previously supported Farrés as a sponsor during his Dakar campaigns in the side-by-side class.

Farrés returns to two wheels

Farrés contested his first Dakar in 2006 on a motorcycle. His best result in that category came in 2017, when he finished third for the privateer Himoinsa team. In 2019 he switched to SSVs, finishing second both in his first year and in 2022. His official Dakar profile documents these milestones.

According to 131 Off-Road, Farrés took part in the Dakar eleven times on a motorcycle between 2006 and 2018. In his most recent two-wheel entry to date, in 2018, he finished fifth. The announced return in 2027 would be his first motorcycle Dakar since then.

Preparation at the 1000 Dunas and Addax

MACBOR names two events in Morocco as preparation: the 1000 Dunas and the Addax Rally. For Addax, the team announcement gives the dates as 25 to 30 October 2026 in Merzouga. Work is planned, among other things, on roadbook navigation.

MACBOR belongs to the Motos Bordoy group. The announcement describes the move from the previous sponsorship to a team entry of its own. It does not name a specific race motorcycle, its technical basis or any other riders. So far, then, only the team project with Farrés has been announced; a new MACBOR rally bike is not presented in the release.
